I have been an environmentalist and been active in caring for my community since childhood. Taking care of others and lifting them up came naturally, and ultimately led me to who I am today. I work professionally in the non-profit sector, working to institutionally change the way our food system works, signing on to policy that provides access to healthy food for students, and ensure we all have a thriving planet to live on in 100 years. My fiance and I create little care packs for our unhoused neighbors, ensuring that we always have something to share when we see someone in need. I participate in community clean-ups and serve on the Norfolk Environmental Commission. And I still felt I wasn’t doing “enough”.
However, one day in December 2019 my entire world changed.
